+ JOURNALIST + RESEARCHER + WRITER + EDITOR + CREATOR

Hello.

I’m Kate Carroll.

I’m passionate about ethical, objective storytelling and public policy and cross-sector engagement that improves and creates equity in education, the justice system, and civic life.

A little about me.

I’ve been told I’m appropriately skeptical.

I suppose this is a good trait in my line of work. Not to be confused with cynical, because I’m generally an optimist.

I’m a Researcher at CNN.

The opportunity to work at a legacy media outlet in arguably the most fast-paced and unprecedented news eras is a fantastic foundation for my professional journey.

I’m a proud Tar Heel.

My time at Chapel Hill was formative, introducing me to mentors and friends I treasure. I attended school on the Morehead-Cain scholarship. I never take for granted the experiences afforded me by the Morehead-Cain, and I will pay it forward every chance I get.

My curiosity is easily piqued, driving me go all-in.

I love to learn. I get to do it every day at work, which is one of the reasons I chose to pursue journalism. Send me down a rabbit hole and I will come back in record time with a wealth of information in-hand.

Jodie and Jarvis, my rescue pets, are my world.

Yes, I am one of those people who refers to my dogs as my children. No, I will not tolerate any chihuahua slander.
